They might also refer you to a physiotherapist. Or some they will direct recommend you to a specialist surgeon!
Well surgery is not usually needed, but your GP might refer to you a specialist to discuss surgery if your symptoms have not improved using other treatment or include worsening muscle weakness, or numbness.
Well, if the condition allow u not to do surgery then i will strongly recommend you try the alternative option before the surgery, there's some evidence that manual therapies like osteopathy and deep Myofasia release can help ease lower back pain & many more other methods !
